Since the plant started operation in 1989, the industry in the region witnessed a rapid growth both economically and technologically. As such, Sumitomo Bakelite decided to turn its much smaller customer service center into a full fledge research and development center – Electronics Device Laboratory Singapore, with its main role in serving the Asia Pacific region’s semiconductor industry.

At the research and development laboratory, engineers continue to improve existing products for customers and develop new ones for future use. Advanced testing equipment are coupled with the ability to stimulate actual production conditions at the customers’ premises, thus providing feedback for proactive measures to ensure high performance of our products. These research works are done in coordination with our corresponding research laboratories in Japan.
